Honey Grove is 8-2 against Celeste since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Honey Grove Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Celeste Blue Devils at 6:30 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
After a string of four wins, Honey Grove's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell to Wolfe City 41-36.
Celeste has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 60-37 to Sam Rayburn, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Celeste has not had much luck with Sam Rayburn recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Taylea West, who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddieclaire Park, who scored 12 points.
Honey Grove's record now sits at 19-10. As for Celeste, they dropped their record down to 18-10 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Honey Grove strolled past Celeste when the teams last played on January 2nd by a score of 55-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for Honey Grove since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
