Softball Game Preview: Neumann Celtics vs. Aubrey Rogers Patriots

The Neumann Celtics will venture away from home to challenge the Aubrey Rogers Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Aubrey Rogers will be up against a hot Neumann squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Everything went the Celtics' way against Golden Gate on Thursday as they made off with an 11-0 win.

Sophia Escobar made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Jennifer Drake was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Ellie Raiger also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Aubrey Rogers can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They came out on top against Oasis by a score of 11-3 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

Ciena Vangemert was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Alexis Alvarez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Neumann's record is now 10-2. As for Aubrey Rogers, their record now sits at 7-8.

Aubrey Rogers' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Neumann has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Aubrey Rogers, though, as they've been averaging only 3.3 strikeouts. Will Neumann keep running through batters, or will the Patriots buck the trend?
