5A Region 1 recap September 17, 2013
Lewisburg's Tucker Wammack recorded the longest rushing play in 5A Region 1 this season in his game against Independence last week. Wammack scampered for 66 yards on the play and finished with 71 on the day as his team bested the Wildcats.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Oxford beat Lafayette 30-0,. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Chargers.
New Hope's dynamic duo of Brady Davis and Victor Deloach proved to be unstoppable against Caledonia, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Davis threw for 326 yards and 5 touchdowns and Deloach had 152 yards receiving. Jason Dickerson helped New Hope's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 98 yards.
The Trojans' dynamic duo of Davis and Deloach proved tough for the Confederates to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Davis put up the best numbers through the air as New Hope defeated Caledonia.
Colton Freeman was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 22 carries, he ran for 105 yards as Lewisburg topped Andy Crotwell's team.
Mitchell Hall made the biggest impact on defense this week as Center Hill lost to Itawamba Agricultural. The 6-foot-1 junior.
Deloach was the best wideout in 5A Region 1 this week as the Trojans beat the Confederates.
Lake Cormorant's Bailey Walker and Ryan Golden have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-3 quarterback Walker has thrown for 907 yards this season, while Golden has 18 catches for 401 yards. Saltillo's Diamante Pounds leads the league in rushing yards with 699.
New Hope took down Caledonia 51-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Davis ran for 29 yards during the win.
