The St. Stanislaus Rock-a-Chaws will head out on the road to face off against the West Marion Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as St. Stanislaus comes in on five and West Marion on four.
St. Stanislaus put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They beat Perry Central by the very same score they won with last week: 42-7. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as St. Stanislaus just coasted through the last quarter.
It was another big night for Ian Gael gonz?lez rioz, who threw for 270 yards and two touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Chesley Rhodes made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but West Marion ultimately got the result they hoped for two weeks ago. They pulled ahead with a 35-34 photo finish over Perry Central. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
St. Stanislaus' victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-7 St. Patrick and 2-7 Tylertown (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 36.4% over those games). As for West Marion, their victory bumped their record up to 4-4.
St. Stanislaus took their win against West Marion in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 30-6. Does St. Stanislaus have another victory up their sleeve, or will West Marion turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
