The Richland Rangers had to endure a 12-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 63-60 win over Wingfield on Friday. The victory was just what Richland needed coming off of a 66-32 loss in their prior game.
Wingfield's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Martavius Bennett, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 18 rebounds. Bennett also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Arrington, who scored 19 points along with six steals.
Richland's win ended a eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-16. As for Wingfield, they dropped their record down to 1-20 with that loss, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
Richland will take on Lanier at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wingfield, they will head out on the road to take on McComb at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
