Lamar is 0-7 against South Grand Prairie since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Lamar Vikings will be playing in front of their home fans against the South Grand Prairie Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
The matchup between Lamar and Bowie on Wednesday hardly resembled the 21-0 effort from their previous meeting. Lamar fell to Bowie 66-60. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lamar in their matchups with Bowie: they've now lost five in a row.
Meanwhile, South Grand Prairie unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 62-61 to Haltom. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as South Grand Prairie came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while Haltom is ranked 122nd).
Lamar's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 9-14. As for South Grand Prairie, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 21-6.
Lamar suffered a grim 62-41 defeat to South Grand Prairie in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Lamar avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
