The Brooks County Trojans managed to keep up with the Thomasville Bulldogs until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Brooks County ended up on the wrong side of a rough 81-60 walloping at the hands of Thomasville. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Brooks County has suffered against Thomasville since February 2, 2019.
Brooks County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kanilyn Jones, who scored 23 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Jones has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Camauri Brinson, who scored 15 points along with seven assists and two steals.
Thomasville was led to victory by Messiah Wilson and Antonie Garland. Wilson scored 12 points along with eight steals, while Garland scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Garland has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Burkes jr., who scored 14 points.
Brooks County has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Thomasville, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-12.
Brooks County will take on Bacon County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Bacon County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 last Saturday. As for Thomasville, they will head out on the road to take on Monroe at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Monroe will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive.
