Basketball Game Preview: Simla Cubs vs. Idalia Wolves

The Simla Cubs will head out to take on the Idalia Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a five-game winning streak alive.

Simla is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Liberty Tree Academy: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Simla blew Liberty Tree Academy out of the water with an 84-14 final score. The Cubs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 35 points or more this season.

Simla relied on the efforts of Katie Gotschall, who went 9 for 12 on her way to 18 points and six steals, and Carlee Cox, who went 7 of 10 en route to 18 points and seven steals. That's the most steals Gotschall has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Brickell, who posted seven points and eight steals.

Simla smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in nine consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Idalia won against Otis on Friday with 50 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. Idalia enjoyed a cozy 50-33 victory over Lone Star. The Wolves pushed the score to 46-26 by the end of the third, a deficit the Longhorns cut but never quite recovered from.

Idalia has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.3 points per game. As for Simla, their win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1.
