The Loachapoka Indians put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Billingsley by a score of 31-21. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Loachapoka's 12-point performance the game before.
Loachapoka's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jeremiah Darlington led the charge by rushing for 100 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. Darlington hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for three straight games. Jeremiah Floyd made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Several Bears players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Landon Jones, who threw for 213 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Kaden Cotton was another key contributor, gaining 102 total yards and a touchdown.
Loachapoka's win was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 9-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-8 LaFayette and 2-7 Billingsley (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 30% over those games). As for Billingsley, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Loachapoka does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Billingsley will be playing in front of their home fans against Thorsby at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
