The Northfield Nighthawks and the Thompson Valley Eagles squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Northfield Nighthawks had to settle for second. Northfield fell 31-24 to Thompson Valley. Northfield's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
It was another big night for Riley Suarez, who rushed for 247 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.8 yards per carry, and also threw for 73 yards and a touchdown. Suarez was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 67 yards.
Northfield's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Thompson Valley, their victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2.
Northfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Thompson Valley will head out on the road to face off against Holy Family at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Holy Family is ranked 25th, while Thompson Valley is ranked 42nd).
