The Bingham Miners will take on the Lehi Pioneers at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Bingham lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Layton, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's match. Bingham put the hurt on Layton with a sharp 9-2 win on Wednesday. The victory was just business as usual for the Miners, who after three games remain undefeated this season.
Nick Macaluso looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kam Beck, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Dylan Frank was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.
Bingham kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Lehi made sure to put some runs up on the board against Juan Diego Catholic on Wednesday. Everything went Lehi's way against Juan Diego Catholic as Lehi made off with an 18-5 win. The Pioneers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Lehi also got a great performance from Tj Peterson as he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits.
On the hitting side, Mays Madsen was a standout: he got on base in five of his six plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Cooper Williams, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-6.
Lehi's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Bingham, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bingham has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lehi struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Bingham might still be hurting after the 18-11 loss they got from Lehi in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Will Bingham have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
