The Frederick Golden Eagles will face off against the Centaurus Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Frederick and four for Centaurus.
On Saturday, Frederick came up short against Estes Park and fell 12-9.
Dalton Sherry put in work no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Sherry was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Isaac Lefevre was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Garrett Pepper was another key player, going 4-for-5 with four RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Centaurus didn't have quite enough to beat Riverdale Ridge on Monday and fell 6-5.
Centaurus saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Vearil, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another was Everett Weiss, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Centaurus' loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Frederick, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.
Centaurus' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Frederick has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Centaurus, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Frederick keep running through batters, or will the Warriors buck the trend?
Frederick beat Centaurus 14-9 in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Will the Golden Eagles repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
