After a string of five wins, the Lowry Buckaroos's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 66-52 bruising from Fernley. Lowry was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Fernley apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Despite the defeat, Lowry had strong showings from Savannah Stoker, who scored 12 points along with six assists and five rebounds, and Britain Backus, who scored 20 points. That was a full 38.5% of Lowry's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Lowry's loss dropped their record down to 14-5. As for Fernley, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lowry's road trip will continue as they head out to face Spring Creek at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Spring Creek will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nevada Rankings (they are ranked 57th, while Lowry is ranked seventh). As for Fernley, they will head out on the road to challenge Dayton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Dayton is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
