Anson has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the South Stanly Rowdy Rebel Bulls at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Anson's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Anson has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 25 points or more this season. They blew past Montgomery Central 90-65. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
It was another big night for Jayden Little, who scored 30 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. The contest was his eighth in a row with at least ten points. Jaqualin Liles was another key contributor, scoring 22 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, South Stanly put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top in a nail-biter against West Stanly and snuck past 56-53. Given South Stanly's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while West Stanly is ranked 408th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Anson's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.7 points per game. As for South Stanly, their victory bumped their record up to 7-0.
Anson was able to grind out a solid win over South Stanly in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, winning 92-85. The rematch might be a little tougher for Anson since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
