Baseball Recap: Calallen Takes Down Tuloso-Midway in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Calallen had no problem doing just that on Friday. They skirted past the Tuloso-Midway Warriors & Cherokees 1-0. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Warriors & Cherokees: they've now won four in a row.

Drayton Mitchell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Mitchell was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Calallen got a great performance from Collier Carroll as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over nine innings pitched. Carroll has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Drayson Gamez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Calallen's record is now 32-2. As for Tuloso-Midway, the defeat snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 28-9-1 record.

Coming up, Calallen will face off against China Spring at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their 26th straight win, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight. Tuloso-Midway does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
