The Briggsdale Falcons entered their tilt with the Fleming Wildcats with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Briggsdale came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 50-40 on Saturday. That's another feather in the cap for Briggsdale, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Jenna Krise was her usual excellent self, scoring 33 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Briggsdale's points. Kayl Klem was another key contributor, scoring six points along with ten rebounds and five steals.
Fleming's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Brooke Schaefer, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals, and Ciana Lousberg who scored 13 points along with two steals. Schaefer is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Briggsdale's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for Fleming, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-4.
Briggsdale will be playing at home against the Fightin' Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Haxtun will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 239th, while the Falcons are ranked 39th). As for Fleming, they and the Rams will face off at 4:00 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Akron focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Saturday.
