The Tradition Prep Pirates will face off against the Port St. Lucie Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Tradition Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Port St. Lucie likes a good challenge.
Tradition Prep is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Lake Worth Christian just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They received a blow as they fell 70-55 to the Defenders.
Tradition Prep's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ethan Chevres, who posted 19 points in addition to six assists and three steals, and Avery Johnson, who earned 25 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Boule, who put up six points.
Even though they lost, Tradition Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Port St. Lucie duked it out withWestwood on Tuesday. Port St. Lucie came out on top against Westwood by a score of 52-44. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Jaguars.
Tradition Prep better focus on containing Jerek Gabriel and Bryan Desgrottes as the pair were huge in Port St. Lucie's win. Gabriel dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds, while Desgrottes went 5 of 10 on his way to 18 points. Those 18 points gave Desgrottes a new career-high.
Port St. Lucie has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-15 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Tradition Prep, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Tradition Prep has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.4 boards per game. However, it's not like Port St. Lucie struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.6 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Tradition Prep came out on top in a nail-biter against Port St. Lucie in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, sneaking past 57-54. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tradition Prep since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
