Tivy (Kerrville, Texas) senior quarterback
Johnny Manziel continues to confound defenses in the Lone Star State.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder drew raves from one of the nation’s premier running backs Friday night following a 54-45 victory over talented
Steele (Cibolo, Texas) before an estimated 7,000 fans.
All he did was complete 34 of 42 passes (15 completions in a row) for 428 yards and six touchdowns, in addition to running for 130 yards and two additional touchdowns. He accounted for all but 14 of Tivy’s 572 yards. Last week he attempted a state-record 75 passes.
The University of Oregon recruit even overshadowed Steele’s All-American running back,
Malcolm Brown, who ran for 353 yards and four touchdowns.
Brown told the San Antonio Express-News, “It was crazy – he actually puts up video game stats every single night. Johnny is awesome. Everybody knows it.”
