It was a good run, but the La Jolla Vikings unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. The match between them and Clairemont wasn't particularly close, with La Jolla falling 65-51. La Jolla was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Clairemont apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Defeat or not, La Jolla got some senior leadership from Michael Contreras and Elijah Vaz. Contreras scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five steals, while Vaz. scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Jackson Diehl, who scored six points along with two blocks.
La Jolla's defeat dropped their record down to 18-10. As for Clairemont, they pushed their record up to 16-10 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
La Jolla will stay at home for another game and welcome Central at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. Clairemont does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
