Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Falfurrias' Third in Last Four Outings

Falfurrias won the last time they faced Santa Gertrudis Academy, and Kaleb Garcia did his part to make sure it happened again. The Falfurrias Fightin' Jerseys walked away with a 58-51 win over the Santa Gertrudis Academy Lions on Tuesday thanks in part to Garcia, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds. Those 15 boards gave him a new career-high.

The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Benavides, who posted ten points. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games.

Falfurrias is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-10 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Santa Gertrudis Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-18.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Falfurrias will challenge Bishop at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bishop knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten games -- so hopefully Falfurrias likes a good challenge. Santa Gertrudis Academy has already played their next contest (against Hebbronville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
