The Sidney Yellowjackets had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They walked away with a 40-29 win over Troy. Given Sidney's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while Troy is ranked 552nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Riley King and Carmen Brooks certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. King scored 11 points along with three steals, while Brooks scored eight points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points King has scored all season.
Troy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Sidney is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. As for Troy, they bumped their record down to 4-10 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sidney will square off against Stebbins at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday. As for Troy, they will head out on the road to challenge Tippecanoe at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
