McMinn County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Meigs County 13-5 on Monday.
The team relied heavily on Addie Miller, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Leanne Watson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Miller wasn't the only one working in the home run department: McMinn County lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Walker Valley came tearing into Monday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Trojans. That's two games straight that the Mustangs have won by just one run.
Olivia Presswood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Alyssa Davenport was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Karly Blackwell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one run.
Walker Valley pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for McMinn County, their victory bumped their record up to 3-8.
