St. Edmund hasn't had much luck against Opelousas Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Fighting Blue Jays will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few points on average (St. Edmund 10, Opelousas Catholic 5.5) so any points scored will be well earned.
Opelousas Catholic will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: St. Edmund extended their winning streak to four on Friday. The Fighting Blue Jays took their matchup with ease, bagging a 56-6 win over North Central. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-6.

Nathan Driggs had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 153 yards and two TDs on only 11 carries. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 117 rushing yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Zaunbrecher, who threw for 135 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only nine passes.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: St. Edmund was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 220 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 206 rushing yards in three consecutive contests.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to St. Edmund's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Max Smith, Wiley Middlebrooks, and John Wesley Sonnier, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, Opelousas Catholic fell victim to Sacred Heart and their airtight defense on Friday. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 3-0. Having soared to a lofty 47 points in the game before, the Vikings' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Having lost for the first time this season, Opelousas Catholic fell to 3-1. As for St. Edmund, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
St. Edmund didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Opelousas Catholic in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 46-42 win. Will the Fighting Blue Jays repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
