St. Charles are taking a road trip to square off against the Southern Maryland Christian Academy Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Charles is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
St. Charles took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Calvert, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. St. Charles won by a run and slipped past Calvert 3-2. The win was a breath of fresh air for St. Charles as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Tristan Hyde and Xavier Proctor made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Hyde struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Meanwhile, Proctor tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because St. Charles is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-5 otherwise. At the plate, Hyde went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI, while Proctor went 3-for-5 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave Proctor a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Southern Maryland Christian Academy earned a 9-5 victory over Eastern on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.
Southern Maryland Christian Academy got a massive performance out of Jay (JP) Perry II, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those runs were Perry II's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Priester, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Southern Maryland Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matches.
St. Charles' record now sits at 3-6. As for Southern Maryland Christian Academy, their record is now 4-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. St. Charles has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Southern Maryland Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
St. Charles suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to Southern Maryland Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in March of 2016. Can St. Charles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
