With a playoff game on the line, the Northwest Christian Crusaders rose to the challenge on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 40-12 victory over Walden Grove at home. Northwest Christian might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won six contests by 24 points or more this season.
Northwest Christian had a senior duo take command as Evan Tarasenko threw for 432 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 12.3 yards per attempt and Gunnar Penzkover picked up 265 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Penzkover's longest reception was for an incredible 94 yards. Cole Martin also helped out with an impressive 81 receiving yards.
Despite the loss, Walden Grove had strong showings from Carlos Montoya jr, who rushed for 78 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, and Izrael Pedrego, who rushed for 64 yards.
Northwest Christian's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Walden Grove, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5.
Northwest Christian will head out on the road to face off against Mica Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Mica Mountain is on a six-game streak of home wins, Northwest Christian a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field. Walden Grove does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
