It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Sunset Apollos ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged Mountainside out 61-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sunset to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ruby Foord, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. It was the first time this season that Foord pulled down eight or more rebounds. Hannah Leffler was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
The win made it two in a row for Sunset and bumps their season record up to 12-9. As for Mountainside, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-14.
Sunset will head out on the road to challenge Westview at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Oregon (Sunset is ranked 70th, while Westview is ranked 94th). As for Mountainside, they will head out on the road to square off against Southridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
