Even though the Roosevelt Roughriders have not done well against West Seattle recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Roosevelt came out on top against West Seattle by a score of 62-54. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Roosevelt.
Roosevelt found their leader in underclassman Emma Curtis, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Curtis is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Adia Tseng was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six assists and four steals.
West Seattle lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Carmen Cruz, who scored 16 points along with six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Colby Timmons, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Roosevelt now has a winning record of 9-8. As for West Seattle, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roosevelt will take on Eastside Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for West Seattle, they will head out on the road to face off against Bishop Blanchet at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Bishop Blanchet is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.
