The Port Huron Northern Huskies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 56-33 walloping at the hands of Romulus. While losing is never fun, Port Huron Northern can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 313th, while Romulus is ranked 116th).
It was another big night for Karma Jones-Johnson, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and five steals for Romulus. That's the first time this season that Jones-Johnson pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Samaira Searcy, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
Port Huron Northern has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Romulus, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
Port Huron Northern will look to defend their home court on January 5th against Romeo at 7:00 p.m. Romulus and Cass Tech will round out the year against one another at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at. Cass Tech will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
