The Doyline Panthers will challenge the Calvin Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Calvin took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Doyline, who comes in off a win.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Doyline and Castor, and Doyline kept the tradition alive. The Panthers narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Tigers 10-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted against the Tigers since April 15, 2022.
Taylor Cox made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Doyline is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-5 otherwise. Cox was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, James Dodge was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Doyline is undefeated when Dodge posts two or more runs, but 1-6 otherwise. Zach Mosely was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, Calvin fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Lakeview on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Gators by a score of 10-9. The Cougars just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row dating back to last season.
Michael Dupree made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Aiden Caskey, who went 1-for-4 with four stolen bases and one run.
Calvin's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Doyline, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
Doyline couldn't quite get it done against Calvin in their previous matchup back in March of 2025 as they fell 12-7. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
