Box Elder is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Bountiful is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Box Elder Bees will take on the Bountiful RedHawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Box Elder focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Wednesday.
Box Elder posted their closest victory yet this season on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged Roy out 59-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Box Elder had a senior duo take command as Max Isaacson dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 rebounds and Elijah Kersey scored 24 points along with three steals. Isaacson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Buchanon, who scored four points.
Meanwhile, Bountiful came up short against Roy on Friday and fell 60-50.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Carson Smith, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds. That was a full 36% of Bountiful's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Charlie Smith, who scored ten points.
Box Elder has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-9 record this season. As for Bountiful, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the pair are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Box Elder hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 55.4 points per game. However, it's not like Bountiful struggles in that department as they've been averaging 65.7 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Box Elder skirted past Bountiful 75-72 when the teams last played on January 3rd. Does Box Elder have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bountiful turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
