Softball Game Preview: Lakeland Dreadnaughts vs. Sebring Blue Streaks

The Lakeland Dreadnaughts will square off against the Sebring Blue Streaks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakeland will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Lakeland is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Kathleen. The Dreadnaughts' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last four matches.

Kennedy Davenport made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Yaneliz Olivo, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Sadie Cortijo also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Sebring suffered their closest loss since March 19, 2024 last Monday. They fell just short of Avon Park by a score of 7-5. The Blue Streaks' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Sebring saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tera Lynn Price, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Lakeland pushed their record up to 9-12 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games. As for Sebring, their loss dropped their record down to 12-7.
