Fort Stockton hasn't had much luck against Seminole recently, but that could start to change on Monday. Fort Stockton will take on Seminole at 7:00 p.m.
Fort Stockton fell victim to Greenwood and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 10-0 to the Rangers. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.
Fort Stockton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gerry Diaz, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Seminole). Everything went their way against Pecos on Friday as Seminole made off with a 15-1 victory. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.
Michael Ray was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Seminole let Rowin Donaldson and Obed Reyes run wild. Donaldson scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4, while Reyes scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those four runs gave Reyes a new career-high. Oscar Grijalva was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Seminole has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. Fort Stockton is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-10.
Monday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Fort Stockton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .450. However, it's not like Seminole struggles in that department as they've averaged .460. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fort Stockton came up short against Seminole in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 5-1. Can Fort Stockton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
