The James Kenan Tigers are taking a road trip to square off against the North Lenoir Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. James Kenan has given up an average of 9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
James Kenan might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 12-2 to South Lenoir, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Tigers have struggled against the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Lenoir). Everything went their way against Kinston on Monday as they made off with a 19-3 win. The victory was nothing new for the Hawks as they're now sitting on six straight.
Hallie Fowler made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up three earned runs off only one hit. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, North Lenoir got a massive performance out of Kailey Bridwell, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles Bridwell has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Allie Reaves, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
North Lenoir hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive contests.
North Lenoir pushed their record up to 13-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for James Kenan, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.
James Kenan might still be hurting after the 14-4 loss they got from North Lenoir in their previous meeting on April 1st. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
