Spring Valley came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Capital Cougars with a sharp 16-2 win. The Timberwolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

Luis Montoya tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.

At the plate, Spring Valley let Garrett Wagoner and Brody Spencer run wild. Wagoner went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Spencer went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Spencer has posted over his last 13 contests. Another player making a difference was Gabe Chambers, who got on base in both of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Spring Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Spring Valley pushed their record up to 17-5 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Capital, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-13.

The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Timberwolves 3.9, the Patriots 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
