Cameron LaPres was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.
In other batting news, Lake Mead Christian Academy got a massive performance out of Bowe Farmer, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Farmer is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Cooper Garrett was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Lake Mead Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .545 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, White Pine came up short against Needles two weeks ago, falling 13-3. The Bobcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
White Pine saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Cessford, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Cessford is becoming a predictor of the Bobcats' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 7-2 (and 4-7 when he doesn't). Another was Tucker Maestes, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Lake Mead Christian Academy's win was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for White Pine, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lake Mead Christian Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .585. However, it's not like White Pine struggles in that department as they've averaged .501. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lake Mead Christian Academy took their win against White Pine when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 16-1 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bobcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
