The Amite County Trojans will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Loyd Star Hornets at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Amite County beat West Lincoln 49-45.
Meanwhile, Loyd Star put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Friday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 68-41 win over West Lincoln. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Loyd Star has posted since December 8, 2023.
Loyd Star got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Colby Terrell out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. Terrell hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Mills, who scored 20 points along with two steals.
Amite County's victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-13. As for Loyd Star, their win bumped their record up to 14-4.
Amite County came up short against Loyd Star in their previous matchup on January 9th, falling 62-58. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Mills, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
