Brenham is 2-8 against Rudder since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Brenham Cubs will head out on the road to square off against the Rudder Rangers at 6:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Brenham's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 78-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of A&M Consolidated.
Meanwhile, Rudder didn't have too much trouble with Magnolia West on the road on Friday as they won 77-59. The win made it back-to-back wins for Rudder.
Rudder's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Randon Cooks, who scored 20 points along with eight assists and seven steals. That's the first time this season that Cooks posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Campbell, who scored 16 points along with three steals.
Brenham's defeat dropped their record down to 20-6. As for Rudder, the win got them back to even at 13-13.
Everything went Brenham's way against Rudder in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as Brenham made off with a 66-46 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Brenham since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
