Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Stockton). Everything went their way against the Sarcoxie Bears on Tuesday as they made off with an 18-2 victory. The win was nothing new for the Tigers as they're now sitting on four straight.
Ellie Pettit made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Stockton got a massive performance out of Raelyn Henderson, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That's the most runs Henderson has posted since back in March. Gracie Abercrombie was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Stockton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .548. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in six consecutive games.
Stockton pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Sarcoxie, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-6.
