After only two runs in their last game, Cottondale made sure to put some runs up on the board against Paxton on Wednesday. The Hornets put the hurt on the Bobcats with a sharp 14-2 win. Considering the Hornets have won eight matchups by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Cottondale got a massive performance out of Jaydon Gray, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Gray a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Lane Johnson, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Cottondale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Paxton only posted an OBP of .222.

The victory got Cottondale back to even at 10-10. As for Paxton, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.

Coming up, Cottondale will host Madison County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Paxton, they are taking a road trip to challenge Poplar Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bobcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Atomics have averaged an impressive 10.3 runs per game this season.
