Leonardtown has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Lackey Chargers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Leonardtown will be strutting in after a victory while the Chargers will be coming in after a defeat.
Leonardtown can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent game on Monday. They blew past Westlake 61-16 at home. With Leonardtown ahead 28-6 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Leonardtown's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Eva Weller, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and seven blocks. Another player making a difference was Gretchen Fleck, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Lackey was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 44-39 to the Braves.
Leonardtown has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Lackey, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.
Leonardtown came up short against the Chargers in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 54-45. Can Leonardtown avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
