The Avon Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 20 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Atlantis on Monday as Avon made off with a 74-48 win. The victory was just business as usual for Avon, who after seven games remain undefeated this season.
Leading Avon to victory were Thomas Edwards and Nyisah Miranda. Edwards went 9 for 14 from beyond the arc en route to 29 points and 3 assists, while Miranda scored 24 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. Those 29 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Josiah Guerrier, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds and three blocks.
Avon pushed their record up to 7-0 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.6 points per game. As for Atlantis, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.
Avon will be playing at home against Holbrook at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Holbrook knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matchups -- so hopefully Avon likes a good challenge. As for Atlantis, they will head out on the road to face off against Sturgis East at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sturgis East comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
