Trinity Presbyterian is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over Montgomery Academy on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wildcats considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
The team relied heavily on Micaiah Shelton, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Marley Sharpless, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Pike Liberal Arts had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They blew past the Eagles 19-1. With that victory, the Patriots brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Yaley McLendon made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off six hits. McLendon was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.
