The First Coast Buccaneers will take on the Episcopal School of Jacksonville Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
First Coast came into this matchup off a tough nine-run loss on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Tocoi Creek by a score of 3-1 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Buccaneers have suffered since March 14, 2024.
First Coast saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooke Edmonds, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Episcopal School of Jacksonville waltzed into their matchup on Monday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. They blew past the Bears 12-1. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.
Riley Valent made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Episcopal School of Jacksonville got a massive performance out of Crissie Clayman, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles Clayman has posted since back in March of 2024. Amelia Oreair was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Episcopal School of Jacksonville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bartram Trail only managed four hits.
Episcopal School of Jacksonville pushed their record up to 17-3 with the victory, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for First Coast, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.
First Coast might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Episcopal School of Jacksonville in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Will the Buccaneers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
