Softball Recap: Ottawa-Glandorf Drops Highest Score of Season Against Upper Scioto Valley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ottawa-Glandorf). They were the clear victors by a 15-7 margin over the Upper Scioto Valley Rams on Saturday. Considering the Titans have won three games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Addie Kitchen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Kitchen was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5. She also brought in three RBI, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Libbie Niese and Hailey Leopold did most of the damage at the plate: Niese scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5, while Leopold scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those hits marked the first that Niese got this season. Haley Meyer was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Ottawa-Glandorf always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .532. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Ottawa-Glandorf and bumps their season record up to 3-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Upper Scioto Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ottawa-Glandorf will take on Miller City at 5:00 a.m. on Monday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Upper Scioto Valley, they will square off against Lima Senior at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday.
