Gorham Fayette extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 14 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-4 in the process. Caden Leininger was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Leininger was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
As for North Central, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-7. That six run margin sets a new team best for them this season.
Like Gorham Fayette, North Central also got a great game from a two-way player: Kade Stewart. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Stewart is becoming a predictor of North Central's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is undefeated (and 1-7 when he doesn't). Stewart was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Gavin Shockley was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Logan Clark, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
