Golden Plains is 9-0 against Rawlins County since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Golden Plains Bulldogs will look to defend their home court against the Rawlins County Buffaloes at 6:00 p.m. Golden Plains will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while Rawlins County is ranked 93rd).
Last Friday, Golden Plains came up short against Wheatland-Grinnell and fell 37-26.
Meanwhile, Rawlins County came tearing into Friday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Quinter by a score of 61-50.
Rawlins County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Camden Franklin, who scored 22 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Franklin has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Tayten Dewey, who scored 12 points along with five assists and two blocks.
Golden Plains' defeat dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Rawlins County, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
Golden Plains came out on top in a nail-biter against Rawlins County in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, sneaking past 42-39. Will Golden Plains repeat their success, or does Rawlins County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
