The Garinger Wildcats's game on January 5th was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They snuck past Rocky River with a 50-45 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Garinger also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Garinger found their leader in underclassman Misa Garris, who scored 21 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Janaviah Dillard, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.
Despite the loss, Rocky River still got an impressive performance from Camille Montgomery, who scored 27 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Montgomery has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristin Jarrett, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Garinger has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Rocky River, they bumped their record down to 6-11 with that defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Garinger won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against South Pointe at 3:00 p.m. on January 20th. South Pointe will be looking to extend their current 13-game winning streak. As for Rocky River, they will head out on the road to take on East Mecklenburg at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. East Mecklenburg is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
