The Independence Patriots will be playing at home against the Meadow Bridge Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Independence will be looking to keep their nine-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Friday, Independence didn't have too much trouble with the Tigers at home as they won 54-36.
Independence can attribute much of their success to Lacey Goodson, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds, and Harmony Mills, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Mills is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last 13 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kamryn Wooten, who scored three points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Meadow Bridge's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 71-29 loss at the hands of River View. Meadow Bridge has not had much luck with the Raiders recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the loss, Meadow Bridge had strong showings from Kierston Rozell, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks, and Lily Hayes, who scored eight points. That was a full 44.8% of Meadow Bridge's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Independence has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. As for Meadow Bridge, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Independence have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 37.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Meadow Bridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.6 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for Independence against the Wildcats when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 59-31 victory. Will Independence repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
