The Douglas County Huskies will challenge the Broomfield Bald Eagle at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Douglas County was handed a ten-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 victory over Cherokee Trail. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Huskies considering their two-run performance the game before.
Bricen Moore made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Moore was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run.

In other batting news, Gunner Gienger was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Douglas County is undefeated when Gienger posts two or more runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Tyler Nunn was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Douglas County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2025.
Meanwhile, Broomfield hadn't done well against Mountain Vista recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Bald Eagle came out on top against the Golden Eagles by a score of 6-3.
Carter Uran looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ashton Nakamichi, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Jackson Shepherd also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Broomfield is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Douglas County, their record now sits at 5-3.
Douglas County might still be hurting after the 8-1 loss they got from Broomfield when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Can the Huskies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
