Hedgesville is on a seven-game streak of home losses (dating back to last season), St. James a five-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Hedgesville Eagles will take on the St. James Saints at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Thursday, Hedgesville came up short against Martinsburg and fell 36-23. Hedgesville has not had much luck with Martinsburg recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Hedgesville got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Maggie Boyer and
Natalie Yates, who each put up seven points.
Gracie Brown held things down on the boards with 12 rebounds.
St. James suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Saturday. They were dealt a 69-24 loss at the hands of Springdale Prep. While losing is never fun, St. James can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 245th, while Springdale Prep is ranked 106th).
Hedgesville now has a losing record at 4-5. As for St. James, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.
Hedgesville strolled past St. James in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 47-32. Will Hedgesville repeat their success, or does St. James have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
